CHAOS THEORY 5: RETURN TO ISLA NUBLAR

The final Chaos Theory mission in the base game is heavily story driven. You’ll notice, perhaps with some delight, that there is no Star rating.

From the outset you have a fully constructed park, albeit in desperate need of repairs. You’ll be using the existing enclosures. For clarity, I’ve numbered them as follows:

The numbers follow the chronological order in which you will be using the enclosures.

With a few exceptions you can probably not worry about Ranger Posts. As long as you make the dinosaurs content, that won’t change so they will remain stable in their habitat. There are no storms or scripted events to make dinosaurs grumpy. You can always add Ranger Posts if you want, or add tasks or perform additional Status Checks manually.

It's worth putting Posts in with the Baryonyx (#5) and Velociraptor (#8) as they will both need healing - assign your MVU to do so automatically. Remember that any other healing will have to be done manually.

Aside from the repairs that form part of the mission tasks, you want to fix the enclosures marked above. The Viewing buildings around Enclosure 4 definitely need repairing. Everything else is optional.

Finally, on a few occasions a task relates to an event where a dinosaur can eventually die, which leads to a mission fail and having to reload. These are marked with warning messages. The messages include a reminder to make a save, so bear that in mind.

Start by demolishing all the buildings marked in blue near the Innovation Centre. Build a Response Facility and Paleo-Medical Facility in their place. If the Brachiosaurus are in the way, just put them anywhere you can fit them.

While they are under construction, take a quick look at the path from the Response Facility to the Power Stations and Science Centre over to the right. You’ll turn right, drive between Enclosures 1 and 2, then take the right path to the Small Power Stations. The Science Centre is back a little, on the path that leads down.

After a moment, you will automatically be put in control of the Ranger jeep. Drive the path you just observed and repair the Small Power Stations* and the Science Centre, with a Small Substation next to it that needs fixing as well. Repair Gates on the way but don’t deviate too much.

*You should only need 3 of the Small Power Stations but you’re over here and money is no issue, so why no repair them all?

Now you need to manually perform Status Checks on the surviving dinosaurs.

Do this as fast as you can. The Allosaurus in Enclosure 3 have a habit of roaming and causing havoc. Once this step is done you can address their contentment, so get through this task quickly to avoid dramas. It may even be possible that they will find and kill the Ankylosaurus, which would result in a mission failure.

There’s no perfect path. Probably start with the Ankylosaurus in #2, then the Stygimoloch in #1, then the Brachiosaurus back near the Innovation Centre and finally the Allosaurus in #3.

You can now exit from the Ranger jeep. Immediately pause and check on the dinosaur’s comfort levels. If the Allosaurus (or any other species) have left their enclosure, tranq. them and put them back in.

The Allosaurus will need 2 Live Prey Feeders. The feeders already present are not Live Prey, they are Carnivore, so just restocking them won’t help. The Ankylosaurus want some Ground Fruit and Ground Leaf. Remember they don’t care for forest so you can replace that to keep their Open Space comfort.

The Stygimoloch will already be content and you’ll be addressing those Brachiosaurus in a moment.

Now take a second to repair the enclosures. Just use the demolish/replace trick to quickly fix all the broken fences and gates. You’ll need to fix up the power system (more Pylons and Small Substations) and you can use or just demolish the Repeater Substations that are showing alert signals if you want to get rid of them.

Pay attention to Enclosure 6; there is no rear fence! Very tricky...

Be sure to repair the Viewing Galleries attached to Enclosure 4.

Optionally, you can now demolish the Large Hotels, the Lagoon and everything attached to it, and the Small Hotel and Guest Attractions back near the Arrival Point.

• Structures > Infrastructure > Staff Centre (3/0/0) optional
• Structures > Infrastructure > Injury Treatment Upgrades (2/0/5) recommended

You may not even need it but you can build a Staff Centre anywhere you like near the Innovation Centre; there is plenty of room. Add the Faster Treatment upgrade to the Paleo Medical Facility.

Now tranquilise and transport the Brachiosaurus into Enclosure 4. When transporting, put all 3 down near the Viewing Galleries which will satisfy the next task. Adjust the enclosure to meet their comfort needs with plenty of Tall Nut.

A Baryonyx appears. Tranquilise it and put it in Enclosure 5 nearby. Perform a Status Check and then send the MVU. Adjust the enclosure to ensure 100% comfort (Water, Piscivore Feeder and a little more Forest).

• Welfare > Medicine > Infected Wound (Medication) (4/0/2)

Make a save here, for a troublesome upcoming task.

Wait while the Baryonyx is cured and content.

Next you have some Triceratops and Sinoceratops. They appear in Enclosure 6. These species will fight.

These dinosaurs are mission critical. If you are too slow and one or more of them dies, the mission will fail. It’s possible to have them appear already fighting and die before the Capture helicopter has even taken off. Obviously, reload the save you made just before if that happens.

Immediately send the Capture Team and tranquilise the Triceratops (they seem to consistently be the more aggressive). Have the Transport Teams quickly move them into the adjacent Enclosure 7.

Now you’ll be back in control of a Ranger jeep. Follow the path between the 2 enclosures directly ahead and up to the marked locations. Scan these and follow the trail. You will find your target.

Make another save here.

Tranquilise and transport Blue into Enclosure 8. Perform a medical scan with the MVU to find that she is injured.

Blue is, not surprisingly, another mission critical dinosaur. She is injured and will be losing health. If you are too slow and she dies, it’s game over. Make sure you put a Ranger Post in the enclosure and assign the MVU. They should at least monitor Blue and heal her slightly when her health drops too low.

There’s not too much more to do, so it’s not really a problem. Just don’t start daydreaming.

You’ll be put back in charge of a Ranger Jeep again. Drive up between the 2 enclosures. The first marker is easy to drive past – it’s a fallen tree on the left side, just beyond the Viewing Galleries. The rest of the markers should be easy to spot.

You will come across a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Tranquilise her and send the MVU to perform a scan. Now transport her directly to the Paleo-Medical Facility.

Once the procedure is complete, transport the T-rex into Enclosure 9. You’re almost done so there should be no need to adjust the enclosure to meet the dinosaurs needs.

Now tranquilize Blue (again) and transport her to the Paleo-Medical Facility. While you’re at it, tranquilise the T-rex again too.

Her treatment will be completed quickly. Now you need to send both Blue and the T-rex away. Select them with the Transport Team and press Guide for Jurassic World Evolution 2 (3). You can send Blue directly from the Paleo-Medical Facility.

Now, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, you need to demolish everything. You can use Bulk Demolish to speed it up a little. Select the Demolish option at the bottom of the left menu, then press Guide for Jurassic World Evolution 2 (4). Change the Radius to maximum and unselect Nature. Now go around and demolish everything*. Don’t forget about the Control Centre at the bottom of the Park.

*I don’t believe paths and fences are required. Pylons and Small Substations are. Focus on the buildings and power structures first and leave the paths and smaller sections of fence until last. The point being you may not need to get rid of everything.

Getting rid of the fences will count as releasing the dinosaurs. Once everything else is gone, the other condition will be marked as complete. Exit from the demolish control and the mission will finish.
